Grammy award winning Mary Chapin Carpenter has long blurred the lines between folk and country, with her eloquent, often heart wrenching songs.

Her new release is something of a surprise; A reworking of 10 of her songs, accompanied by a 63-piece orchestra and a 15-voice choir, turning them into an imaginary film soundtrack.

Does it work? Absolutely. It is truly quite unique. I almost find myself creating the story which connects exquisite versions of the more well known Where Time stands Still and Come On Come On with personal favourites I Am A Town and Goodnight America and lesser known inclusions such as The Dreaming Road and Only A Dream. Somewhat apt as I am now hoping it isn't only a dream that Chapin will join the several artists who have graced the stage at Sage, Gateshead, with a full orchestra. I suspect that I am not alone in hoping for a new tour...how about it Mary? After all, you did tell us that Ideas Are Like Stars...
