Hannah Robinson has been compared to the likes of Eva Cassidy, so you know immediately that you are in for quality with her music. This debut album release, 'Oil and Turpentine', is her chance to really make an impression on the music scene and pave a future.

Her music is vocal and guitar focused, using her voice to tell simple tales that work best at highlighting her voice, the main attraction. Her music sound is fair paced, so not too slow as to become dull, but not particularly fast either.

Her voice in 'Monster' surprised me; it was different to how I thought she was going to sound. This sound is good as it oozes with confidence and comfort in the singing setting so really helps to show the talents of her vocals.

Her soothing vocals almost have a slight Blues era about them, particularly in 'The Peacemaker'. It seems to be a good merge of Eva Cassidy, Lucy Spraggon and Susie Edwards. This variety in sound is very important for today's music and really helps to set her apart from other singers.

The stories in her songs, like in 'Matter of Time' are all your standard plots of love, emotions, heartbreak (of course) and generally the kind of tales people can relate to and find throughout their own lives. This helps to make her music very connected to people, which merged with the easy listening aspect of her vocals and music too means you can't go wrong.

In 'Shadows Over Me' we also get a good sample of how percussion can be well organised to add that extra zest into a song. Although Hannah's vocals are fore front and the main vocals of a piece she still makes sure that backing instruments are used to the best of their potential for how she is singing each song.

Hannah Robinson has a beautiful voice which promises to take her far.
