Having previously reviewed their single Helpless for FATEA, if I remember correctly I wasn't sure how I felt about the single.

Now listening to their album, which has all ready been let loose out on the public, I have to say Middleman has converted me. I really enjoyed their album, I said it last time and I shall say it again this album Counterstep is defiantly a must have for Christmas.

There are so many fusions of music, that it just explodes excellence. One of my favourite songs from this album has to be, Copy and Paste. I don't know if it's because I am a budding journalist but with lyrics like "We want more. More TV, more magazine teeth" fearful that I feel that is song is all about the corruption of the media and how it's all the same now. Middleman seems to be sick of the same rubbish, what it is they say "here's your pre-chewed food you can watch the rot" these guys are far from boring.

These guys know what it is to create music and do it with intent. Their songs emulate messages and prove a point, the album is like a form of artwork it's not just a pretty picture, and it is actually an image that aims to move the audience and makes you think.

Middleman has mixed it up a little bit, not all of their songs are aggressive and violent like there single. Counterstep is full of ups and downs if you pardon the pun, emotion wise it takes you on a musical journey. The track of when I close my eyes will catch you of guard. Not wanting to spoil it for listeners, this track has a range of dynamics.

I am really impressed with their new album, that one day I can only hope to see them live. From listening to this album, I am sure they have a bright future ahead of them and we can expect to hear more of Middleman soon.
