Tracks: 10

"Yorkshire Street" is the first album by Lancashire singer -songwriter Rose Greenwood which also features guitarist and co-producer [with Rose] Mick Wright. All the lyrics were written by Rose, as was the music [apart from one track, "Yeah...But I'd Know", the music for which was written by Mick].

The sound is simple, just one voice and two acoustic guitars and this gives the album an intimate quality, which allows the quality of Rose's songwriting to come to the fore. The subjects of the songs range from personal stories to wider matters such as social issues, religion and philosophy. The uncluttered nature of the music allows the listener to fully appreciate the subtlety of the words, as sung by Rose in her very pleasant voice. Credit should also go to Mick Wright for his excellent lead acoustic guitar, which adds a mellow quality to the overall sound.

There are quite a number of good female singer-songwriters around at the moment but Rose Greenwood is certainly worthy of your attention, as is her album "Yorkshire Street".
