If you get yourself a copy of "Domino Girls", and I'll make an early recommendation you do, prepare yourself for a number of real differences from former member of Waking The Witch, Patsy Matheson. The first you'll notice when getting the cd out of the box is a rare picture of Patsy wearing a dress, something alone that will get her fan base having a real double take.

The next is a list of musicians that really do represent the top of the tree, both members of O'Hooley & Tidow, Anna Esslemont and Sarah Smout to name but four, another departure from previous solo records where Patsy took on pretty much all the playing duties.

What isn't a departure is the strength of the songs, this is one of those albums you can invest so much of your time into, because you know it's going to pay you back by the bucket load, and now there are richer arrangements and instrumentation to add another dimension over the top.

This is an album of ten great songs, though with a number of plays it feels like more, but there is one that really stands out for me, "Red For Danger", a song about leaping into love at first sight, although it's another song, "From Your Computer" which for me holds the greatest impact. Based as it is on a more widespread happening than you might think voyeurism through webcams, both with and without consent. ##As an aside with modern Trojans, you can never be 100% sure how safe a webcam is without a good system knowledge. If you aren't using a webcam, unplug it or point it at a wall.##

"Domino Girls" is a powerful album, one that will help shine a different light onto Patsy Matheson, whilst I've loved her fully solo albums, the way she's approached this one really does set it apart, though that might be a comparing oranges to apples type thing, what I am completely sure of is that "Domino Girls" is a collection of songs that should be part of any discerning music lover's collection. Indulge yourself.
