2013 seems to be a particularly good year for sidesmen to step out of the shadows into the centre stage, with the latest being, Ron McElroy. Having played with the likes of Isabella Summers, Sian Evans and Juliette Lewis, it's now time for the singer-songwriter in him to move to the fore.

Along with singer and gob iron proponent Steve Lockwood, Ron spent a chunk of 2011 drifting around Europe, casually picking up musicians and other performers along the way, including a fire breathing act.

That was followed by a stint, playing squats, festivals and anything, including a slot at the guitarist for a Bunny Girl. However they came about his influences and experiences seem to have done him good if his debut single, "World At War is anything to go by.

With elements of acoustic and blues rock driving the sound and an angry young man edge, Ron McElroy has a single that is writing some big promises for "All Her Kisses" to deliver later in the year. If you think of the ground between Frank Turner and Richard Hawley, you aren't going to go far wrong…and nor is he.
