Mouse Eat Mouse has been listed as one of the 50 greatest band to ever come out of Scotland so you can start their latest album 'Woof' with high hopes! You certainly do not expect the storytelling vocals that greet you for the first song 'Krystal Nichts', where a deep philosophical tale is told over a bed of a guitar.

This unique form of song continues through the whole album and seems more like a style of poems to music than singing in the traditional sense. That being said the musical accompaniment to the gentle vocal chatter give you a pleasant familiarity to it.

The ideas behind each track do get you thinking, and unlike some albums where the lyrics just become part of the music, the lyrics for this album stand alone and make you pay attention and this is why the music itself follows very rigid patterns so not to be ignored but not to take away from the power of the words either.
