For all practical purposes, except for the extra s, Treetop Flyers are named after the Steven Stills song of the same name, so it should come as no surprise to discover that CSNY are such an influence on the band's sound as indeed are a number of West Coast bands and even though Treetop Flyers hail from the West London scene, they have definitely got a sound that makes them worthy successors to that heritage.

When you're paying reference to a genre, there is always a risk that you can come across as a tribute band to the style, even if you are playing your own material, but like the Coral before them, you can here lots on "The Mountain Moves" that tells you you're listening to a band that's determined to make its own mark.

Treetop Flyers came into being back in 2009 banding together from different bands, gigging in West London at the time and wanting to find something that set them slightly apart, well I think it would be fair to say that they found it. When you hear songs like "Roses In The Yard" you know that they have captured that Stax element to their sound.

On the slightly macabre side, "Waiting On You" is lead singer, Reid Morrison's tribute to his recently departed father. Nothing macabre in that you might think until you know that the shaker used on the track is his father's urn.

The West Coast sound is alive and well and Treetop Flyers are determined that it stays that way, "The Mountain Moves" worth checking out.
