Based over in Sydney, Australia, singer-songwriter Taryn proudly "unveils" her talent on this showcase debut EP, a confident five-tracker that means business. Taryn's guitar style is assured, and her grasp of lyric construction astute - as driven opener Oceans Between Us demonstrates. All the while, too, Taryn also seems to have her sights on where the song is going, with an arrangement that builds sparse layers but gradually with extra instrumentation creeping in only towards the end, and to good effect.

All Of Me (the track that's been chosen for extraction as a single) is an altogether moodier concoction, rather more reminiscent of Beth Orton than Joni Mitchell perhaps, with some neat electric guitar and keyboard fills from Taryn's producer/collaborator Karl Broadie. Map Of The World is a timeless, plaintive reflection that continues on into the reassurance of Into My Arms, while the lovely final track Withered And Weathered brings an altogether more wistful complexion to Taryn's writing. Taryn's lyrics may at first seem rather personal and inward-looking, but closer attention will invariably yield the realisation that the situations and stances reflect the listener's own experiences just as much.

Unveil is an impressively well-crafted little taster collection that bodes well for a hopefully-not-too-long-forthcoming full-length album from Taryn.
