Noah Gundersen is a Seattle born Indie Folk singer songwriter who has been part of the US music scene for around six years. "Carry The Ghost" is just his second album although he has released a few EP's and toured extensively.

The accompanying PR that goes with the album infers that Noah is seeking to find his true being through his music. It also suggests that the album is heavily influenced by existential philosophy. As I have absolutely no idea what that means I cannot comment on it although I do feel, based on this album alone, Noah need look no further. He has found himself and his music.

The album contains thirteen thoughtfully produced songs mostly with a relatively basic but beautifully produced accompaniment on both guitar and piano.

Noah is a young man for whom the lyrics are of paramount importance and this is reflected in the album. His voice has a distinctive tone, sad at times, but with lyrics that are easy to understand and follow. "Empty from The Start" personifies his approach to the music and is a stunningly beautiful track. Wonderful guitar work and words to die for!

The opening track "Slow Dancer" is a wonderful opener and a superb introduction to Noah's soulful voice.

This is an album jam packed with rich sounds and imaginative and thoughtful lyrics. Noah has collaborated on the album with his touring band which includes his brother and sister. A real family effort!

If I have just one negative comment and it is a very small one, I would like to see how he performs on some slightly more upbeat songs. However, this album is a great late night listen and will appeal to lovers of a wide range of musical tastes.

Noah is one to watch and whose album I enjoyed immensely. He will be appearing in London and Glasgow in January. Well worth a visit if you are able to.
