Formerly lead singer with Louisiana gospel outfit The Mercy Brothers, Sekhani is the go to guy if you're looking to liven up your Cajun get together. His debut album cooks up a tasty gumbo of zyedeco and country which, even when the lyrics may be downbeat, offers an irresistible open invitation to get up and dance.

The title track gets things rolling with plenty of verve, accordion romping along with a twangy rockabilly middle eight and the needle rarely slips out of the red from hereonin as the album romps through the likes of the vintage rockabilly sound of Jump Right Back, a fiddle-driven Oilfield Tan, the Stonesy swaggering chords of Walk Away From Me (which also reminds of McGuiness Flint), slap percussion stomp Sumner Street and bluesy rocker Wrong Direction. Accordion looms large on the Texas-country rocking The Higher I Get while more country colours are splashed across Carol Ann and the fiddle-laced mid-tempo swayer Ballad of a Lonely Clown.

There may be nothing here that leaps out and demands to be enshrined in the collection for eternity, but it's one to reach for whenever you need a dose of good time exuberance.
