True North reminds me of that hippy musical, Hair. It's got that sort of hippyesque vibe as it is very down to earth and as you listen to it you can picture yourself sitting on a field full of flowers around singing the songs while occasionally joining in with your tambourine.

I particularly enjoy the mix of softness versus edginess in this five track Ep meaning that we never feel safe with thus trio. We can never know what is coming next, which is good as I like to be kept on the edge of my seat as a listener.

Starting off with their track Back to the Mother song, it is quite a deep and emotional song. This is where they showcase their skills in the playing of acoustic instruments and beautiful raw country voices. In comparison to track of The Death of Mr.Jones which is again a emotional song, it is quite strong in emotion as it comes across that True North have a particular hatred to this Mr Jones and they are glad that he is dead and gone. The music is much heavier and aggressive in comparison to Back to the Mother, which is softer and lighter toned.

This is what I like about this ensemble they have such a range of genres of music, experimenting with Folk, Country, Jazz and we bit of Rock.

They remind me of a country version of Abba, which may be quite appt as only male member in the band Patrick Rydman is from Gothenburg, Eva Hillered is from Stockholm and Janni Littlepage is from California. I guess what I am trying to say is that no matter how far away they are from each other , they are still able to use that mix of music cultures to their advantage and create some beautiful tracks. Which are all down to earth and what I class as proper folk music, not messing with any electrical equipment, just three people with guitars and percussion - sounds perfect.
