Trevor Sewell is a blues musician who hails from Millfield in Sunderland and he has been stirring up some serious notices recently.

His previous album, Calling Your Name spent seven weeks at No.1 in the American Blues Scene chart.

Indeed in America, Trevor is going down like the proverbial storm. He was a winner in the Hollywood Music in Media Awards in 2011, runner-up in the British Blues Awards in 2012, and a winner for Best Blues in the Hollywood Music in Media Awards in 2013.

Independence is the first album I've heard that kick off with a train whistle for a cracking opener The Train.

There is a laid -back West Coast vibe to much of this album. The playing throughout is exemplary. This is a well-crafted album that has a great modern blues feel to it.

All tracks are written by Trevor and there is a great blend of instruments - one on track there'll be wailing harp and on the next a blazin' fiddle.

On Talked To The Devil, Trevor's gravel vocals ride on the back of a upbeat rhythm with some neat guitar fills.

How Does That Work features Lorraine Crosby on vocals and a fine job she does with lots of meaty guitar filling in a funk-driven vibe.

If you like your blues nice and smooth then Trevor Swell is the man for you!
