For those not familiar with Steve Bonham, where have you been? Steve Bonham is a story teller with a guitar and an artist who is truly passionate about his craft.

A folk musician from Derbyshire he is such a humble and talented musician who is passionate about putting his talent to some use. After doing the Steve Bonham, Get Your Boots On Tour last year, he walked the Hadrian’s Wall and played at different venues to raise money for charity.

Putting down his walking boots he is still making a difference with his music, in particular They Came Home.

This new single by Steve Bonham is a powerful and emotional story and together with a beautiful piece of music, it tells a story of the First World War and because it is based upon experiences of his own family it gives it that personal touch to it.

Forthcoming from his album Songssmith, They Came Home is defiantly a tear jerker. In keeping with the country song genre, the elements of a piano, tuba, fiddle and of course guitar works really well. Each instrument played in the track complement each other.

It is different from his last album The Moon's High Tide as I feel that in this single we get to connect with Bonham through the art of music, we see the emotional and deep side to him as an artist.

It is the music answer to Remembrance Day, not only remembering the soldiers who fought for us and died in the war but who survived the war and are still alive today to remember it and suffer from the traumatic experience that they had to endure as Bonham sings “Slow boat on a rising tide, takes them off to France, Four boys in 1914, Who’d give them a chance?.
