Hailing from New York's Adirondack Mountains and of Irish American stock, brothers Vinny and Joe Ferris turned themselves in Greenbeans after they progressed from playing high school parties and social gathering and began taking gigging seriously back in twenty ten.

To be honest, there is still the element of a party band about them, with many of the songs on their self titled album having that high energy sing-a-long element to them, this is very much an album that feels good time both in delivery and content. THis is not an intimate duo, this is a venue act that fills a metaphorically, at least, bigger stage.

Shining through everything is an Irishness that I find reminiscent of the Waterboys when they were in that transition phase from "This Is The Sea" to "Fisherman's Blues" with that same raucous, infectious drive.

Whilst there are harmonies on the album, most of the songs have a distinctive lead vocal, with the other brother taking a back vocalist role, rather than a harmony one, though as with all of these things there are exceptions to the rule, either way they are happy to really go for it and give the accompaniment a real thrash for good measure,

I get the impression that Vinny and Joe would probably consider late night festival slots to be their natural environment or maybe chicken wire stages in big bar rooms, they also seem to be capable of taking that attitude into the studio and throwing it at the grooves as, "The Greenbeans" will attest.
