A slow strumming Guitar and Vocals based band, releasing their self-titled debut LP. Barbarisms have a huge focus on listening to the varied vocals of the band, with a mix of guitars and percussion supporting.

The lyrics and tiles of the tracks are quite intriguing, for example 'Macaulay Culkin on Pizza' is definitely the kind of title that makes you want to explore the song for some context. The imagery of Barbarisms is the main thing that jumps out at me, from the album artwork, website design and previously mentioned song title choices; there is quite a surreal look about them.

The album is very slow paced and each track is familiar to the previous, a distinctive sound and theme that would make a Barbarism song instantly recognisable to you. The tempo is definitely not that of a fast dancer but for those who want a quieter night with something calming to immerse yourself in.

The vocals of the album are particularly catching, raspy but pleasant to the ears, could even be described as hypnotic in some ways. It will be very interesting to hear future work by this artist and see what more there is to offer. I feel this album is merely the tip of a potential iceberg.
