It's a bit of a political and social awareness Snippets this week. With so much happening it's hard not to tap into acoustic music's consciousness.

First the social conscience piece. One of Fatea's former writers, Martin Price, is taking part in the London to Paris bike ride to raise money for the Big Issue Foundation, a charity that helps people get back on their feet after finding themselves homeless. It's about a hand up, not a hand out.

Martin has set himself a target of £1300 to raise for the charity and is already a third of the way there. He's riding a few hundred miles to help and all you have to do is click on this link http://www.justgiving.com/Martin-Price1

If you're a tax payer, you can even get the government to contribute. We wish Martin all the best with his fund raising efforts and hope he doesn't get too saddle sore.

On the more political level, Dorset's Billy Bragg is making a copy of his track "Never Buy The Sun" free to anyone that wants a copy. Billy has always been a perceptive songwriter and Murdoch, let's face it, is a very suitable candidate for everyone's ire, a man prepared to exploit dead children for profit is a particular type of scum.

And combining both a charity and political aspect, our video this week comes from Flaming June whose single "Nerves Of Steel", released on August 22nd is raising money for Refuge a charity that supports victims of domestic abuse.
