If you've nothing better to do on August 7th and we suspect that you probably don't and you're within driving distance of Wombwell near Barnsley, might we suggest you check out Voices For Nature - Folk Music Concert 2011?

Featuring Demon Barbers, as well as Damien Barber's duo with Mike Wilson, PO' Girl, The Wilson Family and Allan & Liam Wilkinson as well as a craft fare and an opportunity to go around the RSPB reserve, the concert is a fund raiser for the RSPB so you'll be doing the world good as well as having a good time.

There's real ale and food available so you won't even need to make yourself a picnic for a lazy afternoon in the summer sun. Click here for more details.

Talking of good causes, alt.folk band Flaming June are releasing a download single, "Nerves Of Steel" on the 22nd of August. The single is about courage and coming back from a domestic abuse experience.

The intention is to raise both awareness of domestic abuse and to raise money for Refuge, a charity that helps get survivors back onto their feet in very difficult circumstances. There'll be a video coming up soon and we'll be reviewing the single as well to help further awareness.

Please find the time to visit http://www.ukfolkmusic.co.uk, a website dedicated to UK folk music and dance. There's a whole host of free midi-files for you to download and heaps of useful information and contacts. Resources like these are precious so please drop in and use them.
