"Double Life" is an out and out blues rocker that was recorded in fifteen days and when I say fifteen days, day one had all the musicians meeting together for the first time and starting to rehearse the album, with many of the tracks being recorded studio live.

Paul Rose is a multi-award winning guitarist with a string of albums behind him. "Double Life" sees him pulling in a band of top sidesmen and session players, both instrumentalists like Randy Jacobs and Richie Morales as well as his regular bassist, Kenny Hutchinson and blues/soul vocalists of the quality of Sweet Pea Atkinson and Raffia Ford.

The method of recording means that this album has a really fresh feel. There are a couple of places where you're sure you can hear a musician going off in a slightly unexpected direction and quick as a flash the best of the band following them, but with just that spark of a gap that ensures you know how spontaneous the recording is.

The great thing about "Double Life" is that it doesn't matter what you're listening to, the songs, the lyrics, the vocals, the stunning solos and Rose is an artist that knows solos aren't about speed, they're about texture, you can really hear all the talent coming shining through, and that, ladies and gentlemen, is recommendation enough for me.
