I can't help but feeling that some EP's are little more than experiments; an opportunity for a singer or band to explore their sound, to get some feedback before they choose the musical direction they want to take and, of course to sell a few copies at their gigs. Others, Like Matt Norris & Moon, are so effortlessly self assured in their sound that it can only be for practical reasons that they didn't go the whole hog and release a debut album rather than just the four tracks.

A five piece from Edinburgh, Norris, Tom MacColl, Dave Law, Helen Cookson and Dale Birrell make full use of guitar, double bass, fiddle piano, accordion, mandolin and trumpet as well as some seriously wonderful multi part harmonies.

The songs are linked by a feeling of rurality; roots, storms, the sun, the shallows and well the continuing cycle of light and dark, of softness and harshness, of the ebb and flow and seasonality of life.

They are most definitely a band to look out for.
