Toronto based Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar are set to release their full-length album "Send The Nightingale" officially on February 17th. From the powerful opening track, "Give Me Your Mercy", to the raucous "Don't Shoot", through to the final track, the almighty "Tell The Heavens".

A rising star on the Canadian roots and blues scene Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar have quickly gained attention and praise from soul, gospel and blues fans alike. Her rich, soulful voice has been compared with Mavis Staples and Sharon Jones. Along with Delta Sugar (Mikey McCallum, Sherie Marshall and Stacie Tabb), the latest incarnation of this artist results in fabulous harmonies worked out and delivered to perfection along with very distinctive guitar sounds cleverly intertwined with the vocals.

"Send The Nightingale" features 11 originals that will make you soar and then bring tears in heart rending evocative tracks like the a cappella" Tell The Heavens". Martin, who also plays acoustic and resonator guitar on the recording, fuses gospel, roots and blues that speak to audiences old and new.

I've long been a fan of Martin, owner of a voice that really is a force of nature and a skilled songwriter as well. Delta Sugar compliment all she has so well, and you don't get an ensemble that good without talent, determination and a lot of hard work. Samatha is at home in a wide range of roots styles, she is utterly unique, the blood of a past era of music is running through her veins and when she sings she'll stop you dead in your tracks. "Send The Nightingale" is the soundtrack for courage, anger, love, and vulnerability all rolled into one stunning package.

In a short time, Samantha Martin has been featured at festivals of all kinds across Canada including: Calgary Folk Festival, Salmon Arm Roots & Blues Festival, Dawson City Music Festival, Vancouver Folk Festival, Summerfolk Festival and Shelter Valley Folk Festival to name a few.

In November 2014, Toronto blues fans were introduced to Martin's dynamic voice when she was featured in the Toronto Blues Society's annual Women's Blues Review at Massey Hall, followed by opening for the legendary Blind Boys of Alabama at Roy Thompson Hall. Her official showcases at the Toronto Blues Society's Blues Summit (Toronto) and Folk Alliance International Conference (Kansas City) are sure to keep this big-voice-little-lady busy for future years to come.
