Ron Sayer is a contemporary blues rock guitar player from Norfolk and this is a live recording featuring the talented vocalist Charlotte Joyce.

The recording is crisp and is warts and all, and much better for it. The songs - a mixture of originals and classics - have a charming freshness about them. And the enthusiastic audience at the Little Theatre in Sheringham, Norfolk certainly lap it up.

The set kicks off with a Sayer original, the soulful Little White Lies, Charlotte opens her account with a blistering Nutbush City Limits.

Bassman Nick Overton gets in on the vocal act with an assured Mojo Boogie.

Charlotte really opens up with Mr Weatherman, a real tour-de-force vocal performance. Great stuff.

The band line-up is completed by Paul Wooden on drums, who keeps everything moving along very sweetly.

There is enough light and shade through this set to keep most soulful blues lovers satisfied.

My Mother In Law features great vocals and funky sweet guitar, the blues classic I'm Tore Down is given a funk treatment with Charlotte on piano. The impressive Will Overton returns on the vocals for Anytime You Want.

Throughout the guitar work from Ron Sayer is impressive whether he's a cutting a funky strut, gently rocking out, as on Time For Goodbye, burning up the frets, as in the Fire medley, or feeling the blues, as on the bonus track, Muddy Water's I Wonder Who.

An excellent live set from a band who are clearly enjoying themselves. If you like the blues you'll like them too.
