Here, Chris and Julie both amplify and respond to the candid statement that formed the title of their latest album (Who We Are) by posing the inevitable rhetorical question “Are We Human?”, on a very special single released in support of the charity MOAS (Migrant Offshore Aid Station), a registered Foundation dedicated to preventing loss of life at sea by providing professional search and rescue assistance to people who find themselves in distress at sea or trapped on unsafe vessels.

Musically, Are We Human?, penned by Julie, is an urgently propelled and thought-provokingly emotive song with a typically catchy melody (its opening lines a touch reminiscent of Cat Stevens’ Father And Son perhaps) that calls for compassion, sympathy and solidarity to address the current desperate refugee crisis; in doing so, the song pointedly questions the validity of our treatment of our fellow human-beings. With Chris and Julie backed by Christine Collister, Ken Nicol, Neil Marshall and Liz Frencham, and sporting the customary high production values of the house, this is a great song, in every respect worthy of the cause.
