Every now and again a record lands on the doormat at FATEA towers that we think the postie might have delivered to us by mistake. Upon listening most of them get a puzzled look and not a right lot else but Bearfoot Beware and their incendiary debut full-lengther has slipped the net big time!

'The World Owes You Nowt' is 9 tracks and 25 minutes of glorious racket the likes of which hasn't been produced in this country for many a year. It's scrappy, it's chaotic but overall it's utterly brilliant. Lyrically Bearfoot Beware aren't entirely serious and the level of sardonic humour running through the album merely adds to the appeal. The up and down riot of "He Should Have Died As A Kid" is enormous fun with it's tale of the last man on Earth considering his existence. It's an aural burrito of noise, punk, and post-hardcore with a spicy breakdown on top.

'Ongoing Opera' features the album title in its abrasive chorus as part of a song that will have Biffy Clyro fans yearning dearly for the old days and alongside the classic emo rollicking of 'Mumzee' with its genius refrain of " this is the first time I don't give a fuuuuuuuuuuss". It's minute after minute of sloppy punk fun!

The band themselves are part of the CHUNK collective in Leeds and used the shared recording space they maintain and run to experiment with math rock rhythms, dropped beats, mis-timed riffs and a whole host of other happy mistakes. Recorded predominantly on analogue tape this album wouldn't have sounded as good any other way!

For a band to toy around with ideas of the failure of man and a fractured future with such playful abandon is as unique as it is entertaining and right up to the very last note of the At The Drive-In esque 'The Right Honourable' Bearfoot Beware are VERY entertaining.

It's true, the world does owe you nowt…….so go and seek out Barefoot Beware yourself!
