Andrea Zonn first came to my attention through her stunning contributions,both vocally and musically (she is a wonderful violinist) to the recordings of revered artists such as James Taylor, Lyle Lovett, Trisha Yearwood, Alison Krauss, Jerry Douglas, and Vince Gill. That list alone, surely, is testament to her talent.

Several years ago she released her debut CD; sadly not as well known as it ought to be, it was a remarkable collection of songs. I was also lucky a few years ago, to see her perform live, at a small, local venue, opening for Kevin Montgomery.

She spoke that night of new material; here, all these years later, it is, marking her first venture into writing all originals. Predominantly inspired by the trauma of her baby son having brain surgery, songs such as No Reason to Feel Good, I Can't Talk About It, Rise and You Make Me Whole, creatively, emotionally, articulately and exquisitely, explore the emotions the experience brought to the fore, and perhaps, above all, of love.

Perhaps the real gift evidenced, is that despite being so deeply personal, the songs are relatable; they touch on what it is to be people, in the world, together, what connects us and what creates separation.

Quite simply, remarkable. How soon this will be followed with album 3, I have no idea. I simply hope it won't be as long a wait and that she graces us with her presence for some live shows soon.
