What is it about Finland and the blues?

Not content with assisting Eric Bibb with producing some of his finest work, the country has know helped a young man from Fife, Scotland - Robbie Hill - produce his first album.

Robbie left his home North of the Border after being told by blues great Otis Grand to expand is horizons. Scanadanavia was his destination and he teamed up with American bassman Jesse King and drummer Tatu Passsinen.

This is a mighty fine effort. If you like your blues with a great vibe, with understated guitar, and great rhythm - then check this band out.

From the opening track - Price to Pay - the scene is set. Pulsating bass high in the mix, some tasty slide guitar, and great drums.

Most songs are written by Robbie or Jesse, I particularly liked Morning Light which features some kick-ass guitar.

Then there's Praise to Helsinki - it had to be in here I guess - which kicks off with some driving guitar before the band drops in.

Throughout the album there's a great feel - with not one instrument trying to dominate - so congratulations to the production team.

A great first album. The Scandavian air must have something in it.
