If you like your blues with a rich, smooth sound then check out these guys.

The Bresnan Blues Band, fronted by Dan Bresnan, hail from the desert state of Arizona and they really sizzle.

Their sound is full and mellow, jazz-infused, with a multi-layered production making full use of piano and saxophone.

Dan is credited with vocals, guitar, bass, piano and organ. The rest of the band are: Don "Hutch" Hutchison on bass, Michael Reed on saxophone and Bob Sellani on drums.

You'll find no rough edges here. The production is tight with some lovely guitar tone throughout.

The opening track, Party In My Backseat, sets the tone. Slowly building, with sultry vocals and understated guitar, the track bursts into life with a stunning sax break.

Other tracks I enjoyed were Low Hanging Fruit, the Dire Straits-ish Ain't Got None and the closer Something Ain't Right.

Some of the tracks I felt were over-long and with only nine tracks, it would have been good to hear some more from this outfit.

A classy album that repays repeated listening.
