The Barn Door Slammers What a fun band this is! The name of the band itself is a big clue to the kind of music they are. This Cowboy Swing band give us 11 brilliantly catchy tracks that have a nice range of swing that makes you want to find the nearest country dance.
The band seems to be trying to tick every single stereotype for this genre imaginable but not as a parody, simply because it is the kind of music that the band loves. You can see by the passion in the tunes and songs that there is a lot of love for what they do and that energy comes across in the music.
There is a very clear signature sound to this band and every track has that fast paced country tempo. There is a mix of instrumental tunes but mostly each song is lead by Bret Ervin Lien who is extremely catchy and has the perfect vocals for this band.
There are enough different instruments in the band to create a nice montage of different sounds but without the music itself starting to sound overcrowded or packed.
I believe this band is one of the 'perfect to see live' type bands. The album itself is great but I doubt it fully captures how fun The Barn Door Slammers are, I expect only seeing them live can really bring you that atmosphere.
