Harker
I loved listening to this EP of (James) Harker's Anecdote over and over again; it was a rewarding experience to my ears. It is such an easy listening EP, if you are a fan of Mumford and Sons (as it is reminiscent of them) then I think you will like James Harker too.
The 4 track EP has a theme about it, a theme of places and we as the listener follow Harker and inhabit those places with him. Whether these places are geographical or created by people or from memory I do not know. Just from listening to this I feel as though the theme took an emotional turn as if I was going down my own memory lane, gathering memories from each place.
So far I have really enjoyed this genre of folk music and I feel that the EP of Anedcdote it has topped it all off. There are so many themes surrounding the EP and .maybe there is more layers to it than I thought? You shall have to listen to it to find out.
The music flows nicely and makes me feel relaxed after a long hard working day at university. It has a simple acoustic melody with no nasty surprises.
James Harker is planning for a Anecdote 2 so we shall have to wait and see what themes that unravels.
