Artist:John Lodge "Can't Keep A Good Man Down" is a John Miles song from the 70's which seems to perfectly describe John Lodge just now. Singer songwriter and bass player with The Moody Blues, John Lodge is just about to embark on his latest tour despite his advancing years and his recent serious illness. For those that associate John only with the band, this new EP "Love Conquers All" will remind music fans that he is not only a consummate solo professional but a skilful and insightful songwriter.
This new 5 track EP demonstrates the full range of John's musical tastes. Written throughout the Covid period, John used the time for reflection and composition. Here we have an instrumental, a touch of country and a beautiful view of life in the slow and melodic "In These Crazy Times." All five tracks exude pure class! "Whispering Angels" was co-written with his son in law Jon Davison of YES, who also plays on the track. Other family members and musician friends also join John in this musical sojourn.
There is a beautiful gentle, almost melancholy, feel to the EP which, unsurprisingly, has touches of the Moodies' production about it. He will no doubt be playing these new songs on his forthcoming tour which headlines the full rendition of the wonderful and, groundbreaking and still unsurpassed "Days Of Future Passed, to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
An EP for those music lovers that enjoy listening to a master at work.
