Listen Up - The Salts
The Salts who are one of the most exciting and energetic concepts around performing original material alongside their own interpretations of traditional songs we all know and love. Their live shows have been going down a storm throughout the UK at festivals and venues alike. The band feature five seasoned musicians collectively performing a mixture of instruments as well as great harmonies and are guaranteed to get the crowd singing and dancing along. Their latest album 'Brave' has received rave reviews and radio plays around the world.
How would you describe your music?
We are often described as Shanty/Folk/Rock. Traditional sea shanties arranged in a unique contemporary Folk/Rock style with strong five part harmony vocals backed by Banjo, Guitar, Mandolin, Whistle, Double Bass & Drums, creating what we think is our own unique sound.
We also write original songs ourselves that we sprinkle throughout our repertoire.
What has been your highlight so far?
At the end of last year we played to a full house on Centre Stage at the Great British Folk Festival in Skegness in front of 2000 people alongside Barbara Dickson and Merry Hell. We have also sold out Wiltons Music Hall, London a few times which is a beautiful venue, being the oldest music hall in the world. We pride ourselves on the many unusual venues we have played. There is no average gig!
What plans regarding recordings, video, tours etc do you have for the future?
We were doing our first ever Acoustic Tour until the Covid 19 virus curtailed that and we will be looking to rearrange dates for 2021 where we would have been playing in smaller, more intimate venues, which shows a softer side to our music & really highlights the vocal harmonies. We have also been releasing a series of "The Salts Acoustic" videos to support this, performed live in the barn where we rehearse. Later this year we return to the Theatres, Arts Centres all being well and we have been rearranging Festival performances for next year.
Is there anything else you would like to say or any message to our readers?
We are very proud of our albums SHE RISES & BRAVE but really we are at our best live. So please try to see one of our shows & check out our gigs on our website there is also a Facebook page & "likes" are always welcome.
