Whose Playing When
Busk Love Folk will be returning to the festival bar of the Atkinson Southport this year on the 10th of February. Supported by Fatea as part of the Love Folk Festival that runs over the 9th and 10th, Busk Love Folk features three showcase sets in the festival bar and best of all it's all free.

Eleanor Dunsdon and Gregor Black are a Glasgow-based harp and percussion duo, who met during their postgraduate studies in Traditional Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2022. Blending their respective sounds of Scottish clarsach and Irish bodhrán, along with contemporary percussion and vocals, they form a creative new duo. Gregor draws on his background in classical and latin percussion to bring interesting and innovative ideas to his playing. Recently Eleanor has recorded with trad/covers project Luke Daniels & The Cobhers and currently performs with Irish alt-folk band, Ranagri.

Roary Skaista is a queer folk musician based in Oxford, performing traditional folk songs as well as their own material on the themes of love, nature and diversity. Roary has a number of releases to her credit, the most recent being "Borrowed Time" which was her second EP of original material. The songs blend a traditional folk sound of clear vocals and intricate guitar picking patterns with up-to-date, witty and poignant lyrics, challenging audiences on current issues such as mental health, neurodiversity, LGBT+ rights, gender equality, and the environment.

Having spent her early days sleeping in a baby carrier under tables at gigs her parents helped put together it was almost inevitable that Elsi ended up being mad about music. She has been playing for almost as long as she can remember getting her first break in 2019 with a main stage slot at Ely Folk Festival. 2023 saw her becoming a late addition to the Brian McNeill Session at Cambridge Folk Festival, whilst early 2024 sees the release of her debut EP/mini album Blue with a number of festival slots already booked for later in the year.
7:00pm - 7:25pm
Busk Love Folk welcomes back host, Fatea's John Reed. Born and raised in Blackpool, John is respected not only as a singer-songwriter, but also as someone that is prepared to get his hands dirty raising concerns about the lack of respect and opportunities for musicians in this country. In addition to his own playing and performing John Reed also hosts his own radio show/pod cast Compedium. John's most recent album, "Elevation" was released under the pay what you can afford(PWYCA)model.

WORKSHOP
Starting at 11:00 Fatea's Neil King will be running an informal workshop and Q&A. These workshops have been known to go off at a tangent to cover what's important to those that are there. Fatea has now been running for 35 years and been supporting radio shows for more than 12 years so it's a great opportunity to tap into a wealth of experience.
