Jim Moray's Silent Ceilidh
Jim Moray did the first ever Silent Ceilidh at Cambridge Folk Festival last year and it went down an absolute storm as well as setting a record for the latest running official act ever to have run on the Cherry Hinton site, though unofficial sessions have gone on longer, to the annoyance of over polite nearby campers.
The reason it can go on so long is that all the music is delivered via head phones and you actually get a choice of track to listen to. Jim Moray has long been one of folk's great innovators and if anyone was going to bring something this contemporary to folk music, it was going to be him and so it proved.
I'm not sure if you can call something different if it's been done here before, but compared to other activities on the stages, this is different. Hopefully there'll also be a time somewhere to catch Jim on a stage performing in a more conventional style.
