The Willows
Cambridge based act The Willows are literally just on the festival door step, but are in the process of creating ripples much further afield.
They've got a really delicate sound that draws on the English folk tradition, but places it into a contemporary context. Rich in harmonies with plenty of textures there's already a lot to recommend this band on before you get to the quality of the vocals and eloquently penned lyrics.
The band have already notched up support slots with the likes of Lau and are building themselves a heavy gigging schedule. Not yet seen them live, something I'm hoping to correct soon, but there's a real freshness to their sound that's drawing me in and making a viewing inevitable.
The band have relatively recently released their debut EP and there are rumours of a full blown album by the end of the year. The Willows have already come a long way in a short time and it looks like a journey set to continue.
