Port Isaac's Fisherman's Friends

It's been an absolutely amazing couple of years for Port Isaac's Fisherman's Friends. Catapulted from the status of local legends to international fame and a BBC Radio Two Good Tradition Folk Award presented by no less an individual than Kate Rusby. Quite a journey for a group of friends who used to gather for a good singsong in their home village.

Community has long been an important part of the Celtic tradition and seems to have been particularly important in occupations where you current job might also be your last and in that both mining and fishing are linked in that need to build absolute trust with your friends, to know and rely upon them.

Port Isaac's Fisherman's Friends made their Cambridge debut on Stage Two on the Thursday last year so it's good to welcome them back again whilst they are still riding the wave and having real fun doing it. They've lots of stories between them and a whole host of songs to sing you, who knows they might invite you to sing along.
