Newton Faulkner
Newton Faulkner made his Cambridge debut back in 2007, mere hours before releasing his debut album, "Hand Built By Robots", an album that would eventually go on and capture the number one slot, a relatively rare event for a folk influenced album.
His second studio album, "Rebuilt By Humans" failed to achieve the commercial success of it's predecessor, but all the time his live reputation continues to grow, making good use of his guitar style that features him using the instrument for percussion as well as strumming.
His trademark dredds are starting to prove to be a bit of a mixed blessing, distinctive and instantly recognisable, they certainly enhanced his recognition factor, but have been described as gimmicky in some quarters.
There's no disputing his successes, top three albums with his first two releases. Newton will no doubt be packing them out in the aisles.
