Kate Rusby
A regular performer at Cambridge, Kate's appearances normally coincide with major developments in her career. Significantly this is her first appearance at Cambridge since she became the proud mum to Daisy Delia, announcing her return to big gigs.
Proud to be called a folk singer and with one of the most recognisable voices of her generation, Kate Rusby is one of the few folk singers to significantly cross over into the mainstream. Solo she came to wider attention when she sang "The Village Green Preservation Society" for the opening of Jam And Jerusalem and also notched up a top ten single, alongside Ronan Keating, annoying the folk police along the way, so bonus points all around.
Hailing from Yorkshire, Kate often includes the music from that county in her set and also features heavily in her between song banter and seems to provide her very much with a centre. Performing solo or with her band, you can always feel the passion in her songs and performance.
