Jim Moray's Silent Ceilidh
Ok, I can hear some of you asking, 'what is silent ceilidh?' and 'when did Jim Moray get a new backing band?'. The clue really is in the title of silent ceilidh, quite simply, it's the folk equivalent of a silent rave and if anyone was going to introduce it to the folk world, the smart money would have been on Jim Moray.
Why silent? Well that would be because the sound is delivered to the ears via headphones rather than directly to your ears across the conventional acoustic way, so if you're the sort of person that enjoys talking when you should be listening or dancing, talk away as you're not disturbing anyone.
It also means that you can play tunes that people really like, but would be too embarrassed to ask for in public, imagine doing a four hand reel to "The Wombling song". Yep it's all a little kitsch but apparently it's an absolute blast.
