Emily Smith
Hailing from Dumfries & Galloway, Emily Smith is a graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy Of Music And Drama, going on to win BBC Radio Scotland's Young Traditional Musician Of The Year Award back in 2002.
Since then she's gone on the release four album's , the most recent being "Traiveller's Joy" which saw the light of day earlier this year and which continued to cement her reputation as one of the finest interpreters of traditional songs of her generation. Not that she's a slouch when it comes to writing her own material having picked up awards for her song "Edward Of Morton".
Emily Smith is a vibrant performer, even being called a Scottish Joni Mitchell, she is always playing with the way her songs sound, constantly finding ways to keep it all fresh. An easy act to recommend and there'll be a couple of opportunities to catch her over the weekend.
