Emily Portman
Hailing from Glastonbury, but currently based in the North East, Emily Portman caused a bit of a stir with her debut album, "The Glamoury" which gained her a couple of BBC Folk Award nominations and an enhanced reputation as a singer songwriter.
A love of fairy tales informed Emily's love for the dark underbelly of English folk music where legends and urban myth collide. Balladry really is a great way of telling stories of people and places. Songs that have seen her regularly appearing on mainstream radio and even sound tracks.
Emily regularly tours with Waterson:Carthy for which many would say there is no better testament for a sing, but also the likes of Shirley Collins and Sandra Kerr have heaped praise onto Emily's young shoulders.
