Alabama 3 confused a number of the audience by appearing on stage as a four piece, they have been larger than that, but this was the unplugged version, Robert and Devlin Love, Rock Freebase and Harpo Strangelove. They are also one of the strangest combinations you're likely to come across two, at times three vocalists, when Harpo wasn't playing gob iron, gob iron and guitar.
Some of the audience only seemed to know them through "Woke Up This Morning", the theme tune to the Soprano's, judging by the songs that were being called for, there also seemed a good number that know the band's wider material.
The band hail from music's dark side, spousal abuse and drug deaths making up just some of the content.
It's delivered like at express train in a fusion of country, gospel and blues. Unhampered by instruments Devlin and Robert can give real vent to the songs, gestures and waves.
It was a hellova way to end the evening. All that remained was to grab some food and a beer, or two.
Mabon were busking away merrily in the bar as we downed our last pint and prepared to head off and get ready for another day.
