We start off the first News & Snippets of 2012 with a charity connection. If you are anywhere near The Musician Pub in Leicester on Friday 24th of March can we recommend that you get along to the Flutatious and Tarantism double bill.
Both bands are playing a benefit gig for the charity Festival Spirit , an organisation whose role is to help disabled youngsters get along to and enjoy music festivals, well worth anyone's time. If you can't get to the gig, but would still like to contribute, the charity's website can be found here. www.festivalspirit.org/
Talking about raising money, the internet is allowing many artists to open up alternative revenue streams to fund album releases, Jess Morgan has announced details of a Pledge Music campaign to raise money for her forthcoming second album 'Aye Me', released in the UK on March 26th.
Jess's beautiful blend of folk, acoustic and roots music has already seen her support the likes of First Aid Kit, Ellen and the Escapades and Megson over the past year. Support from BBC Radio 2, Acoustic Magazine and Rock 'n' Reel has already tagged her as one to watch in 2012.
The Norwich-based artist has appealed to fans with a video message (view it here: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/jessmorgan) asking for their help to independently release the new home-grown album.(photocredit Jez Brown)
