Fatea magazine would like to congratulate Lucy Ward, Megan Henwood and Pilgrim's Way in their nominations in the Horizon category of this year's BBC Folk Awards. All three have featured on Fatea Showcase Sessions this year, Lucy and Megan are on the current download "Inspirations" whilst Pilgrim's Way featured on our Summer download "Aspirations".

It's a double success for Lucy Ward as she's also been nominated in the Best Traditional Song category for her interpretation of "Maids When You're Young" on her debut album, "Adelphi Has To Fly". It's particularly good to see young artists breaking into the main categories in addition to the Horizon category. We wish all three artists all the best in the voting, which is carried out by a panel of people connected to the folk world.

If you've become a fan of Bob's Folk show on Radio Wey, Tuesdays nine pm 'til eleven, but manage to miss one, Bob has started to put highlights from the show up on Soundcloud. If you've not yet caught the show , we highly recommend it, Bob has a brilliant range of guests, many of whom perform live in the studio.

As with many independent folk shows, there's a good community on Facebook during the show so plenty of opportunities to share thoughts on the music. With the BBC apparently determined to drive folk and acoustic off its regional airwaves, shows like Bob's Folk Show, Roots & Branches and Roots & Fusion, amongst others, will become increasingly import. Check out our Radio page to see when and where you can hear decent music from along the acoustic spectrum.

With still over a month to go before the new year, now seems like a good opportunity to suggest that 2012 looks like it's going to hit the ground running with albums from a trio of Fatea favourites hitting the shelves early in the new year. Canadian duo Madison Violet release their new album, "The Good In Goodbye" early doors, followed by a UK tour.

An extensive joint UK tour is also on the cards for two ex-members of the much missed Waking The Witch, Patsy Matheson and Becky Mills, who will be promoting "Stories Of Angels & Guitars" and "Dandelion" respectively. Reviews of all three albums coming soon.

If you can't wait until 2012 for a good fill of female vocals, then fear not we'll soon be reviewing "The Last Polar Bear", the first single to be taken from the new O'Hooley Tidow album, "The Fragile" and Abi Wade's "And Blood And Air EP" the debut release for new label Love Thy Neighbour Records and from which the below video, "Stability" is taken.
