A new music night has launched in Poole at an unexpected venue ... Poole Museum.
THE LOGBOAT SESSIONS is a new acoustic music evening taking place on the third Thursday of the month at Poole Museum in Dorset. Housed in a 19th century warehouse on Poole Quay, the gig itself takes place at the heart of the museum, next to the 2,300 year-old Poole Logboat.
With a maximum capacity of 60 people, THE LOGBOAT SESSIONS lets audience get close to the very best new talent the folk, jazz and world music scenes have to offer. And the opportunity to play next to one of the largest prehistoric water craft to survive in the UK has proved very popular with musicians, with acts booked up until March 2015.
Our next night is on 19th June with Three Cane Whale, which promises to be fantastic. Three Cane Whale is Alex from Spiro, Paul from Organelles and Pete from Get the Blessing - a veritable supergroup!
Cllr Xena Dion, Portfolio Holder for Prosperous and Sustainable Poole, Borough of Poole, said: "At over 2,000 years old, the Poole Logboat is a unique physical link with seafaring in Iron Age Dorset, It's fantastic to see it reaching a whole new audience now through this wonderful new series of concerts."
Tickets for THE LOGBOAT SESSIONS are by donation, starting from £5. The ticket money is used to ensure artists appearing at THE LOGBOAT SESSIONS receive fair payment for their work. You can book online via Eventbrite or through the Museum, either in person or by calling 01202 262600.
We couldn't think of a better video to illustrate the talent that are taking part in these sessions than rising Poole duo, Ninebarrow
With our reviewing, we don't always get to publish as many features/interviews as we'd like. If you've got the time and inclination to put fingers to keyboard, we are looking for opportunities to get articles to a wider audience

The Fatea Showcase Sessions are a series of downloads featuring acts that we've really enjoyed and think that more people should get the chance to hear.
