Kickstarting Kyle Carey

My name is Kyle Carey--I'm a songwriter and singer based in New England. My debut album 'Monongah' was recorded in Dingle, Ireland two and a half years ago and produced by Donogh Hennessy--one of the founding members of the renowned Irish group LĂșnasa. In the summer of 2011, 'Monongah' rose to #8 on the international Folk DJ Charts, attracting a hefty dose of critical acclaim, and landing on a good few national and international 'Best of' lists by the year's end.

Now, I am in the process of fundraising for my new album, 'North Star' which will be recorded in Glasgow in January, and produced by Solas founding member Seamus Egan. 'North Star' will be a twelve song disc, with nine original story-songs, two songs in Scottish GĂ idhlig and a cover of Kate Wolf's 'Across the Great Divide'. I'm confident that this album will be a project of grace and endurance--there's nothing I'd like more than to have you join me in its creation.

With the changes in professional music in the past few years, independent musicians are now relying on their fans and support networks to create their new albums. I'm already bowled over by the incredible generosity of my first backers, and as early as this, I can see the dream of a sophomore release becoming a reality. I'd like to invite you to join me in the creation of my album, though of course, there is no obligation or pressure. Though I'd love your support, the projects we decide to back are a personal choice. I support some projects and not others, and none of us have the means to support them all.

In order to have the budget to record, master, and print 'North Star', I need to raise $17,500 by November 3rd. I launched a Kickstarter campaign a few weeks ago to do just that. I hope you'll consider joining me, and/or sharing the project with your friends. Together we can give 'North Star' it's rightful place in the heavens.
