Born in Huntington Beach, California, USA, Petit received his first guitar, a Gibson SG Special, aged 7 years old and an instant, lifelong rapport was established. After playing alongside Blues legends BB & Albert King, he moved to the UK and starred alongside many music legends including Eric Clapton, Phil May (The Pretty Things), David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) and Ian Stewart (The Rolling Stones) - performing dozens of gigs in across London.
In late 2003, after a life-threatening descent into, and recovery from, alcoholism, drug addiction and homelessness, Petit began busking on the London Underground as part of the Transport for London Licensed Busking Scheme. Playing at tube stations across the capital, he attracted media attention from BBC radio, press and television, and enjoyed ever increasing positive reactions from the travelling public of all ages & backgrounds.
The enthusiasm of the public’s response helped Petit to compose and self-release his debut album Guitararama. Financed entirely by busking and initially available only on the Underground, the much lauded debut became available commercially in retail music stores including the mighty HMV and Zavvi in the UK, as well as online. The first pressing of the album sold out, and is a now collector’s item.
The first, truly independent incarnation of “Guitararama” entered the Top 10 HMV Blues Album Chart in the UK as well as the iTunes Top 10 Chart in both Norway and Sweden, helping it to earn its major league re-release and distribution on 333 Records through Universal Music Group. Most recently through Autumn 2008, Petit has presented dozens of immensely popular University Masterclasses in The Blues and Guitar History and performed, with his acclaimed band, a headline-grabbing 20 date sellout tour of the UK.
