The Ted Vaughn Blues BandThe Ted Vaughn Blues Band
Album: The Ted Vaughn Blues Band
Label: Harbinger Northwest
Tracks: 13
Website: http://www.tedvaughnbluesband.com/

This is a band which hails from the Pacific Northwest of America, who clearly love playing the blues.

This is their first album but the five band members are all experienced players

It features three original songs and seven covers.

The band is: Ted Vaughn (vocals and blues harp), Clay "Bone" King (guitar and vocals), Leon-Forrest (keyboards), Ted Larson (bass and vocals) and Ian Henderson ( drums).

The album kicks off very well with Them 12 Bar Blues - a band original - featuring some great harp, organ and guitar.

The playing here is very assured but playing the classics is always going to bring comparisons. And John Lee Hooker's smash hit Boom Boom, although featuring some great bass and drums, doesn't come close to the great man.

Having said that this is a very enjoyable album by a talented group of musicians.

Nothin' But Trouble and the instrumental Swang Thang show these guys can produce the goods and it would be great to hear more originals next time around.

Other songs covered include BB King's The Thrill Is Gone and How Blue Can You Get and Howlin' Wolf's Killin' Floor.

The album is wrapped up with a storming version of Treat Her Right, the perennial crowd-pleaser, with the entire band having a ball. I reckon this group would be a great live act to catch and I look forward to the next release.
