Produced in Hollywood, Skin On Skin is the second EP in a collection of three from (Georgina) Callaghan. Over the course of these EPs, she is experimenting with different sounds and styles. As such, this EP is very different from her previous offering, The Other Side.
Throughout the EP is Callaghan's striking vocal, sweet yet strong. Broken is a beautifully crafted song inspired by politics both here and in the USA, Callaghan's home for the past eight years. This and All Through The Night feature a 30 piece orchestra which adds a beautiful depth to her vocals. In direct contrast is Better Together; a simple, fun, upbeat song to which it is impossible not to sing along and tap your toes. The title track explores how social media keeps us connected but nothing is better than being together, in the same space. Very relatable in our current world.
Very different from it's predecessor, this EP is a brief but excellent listen. Showcasing some of the more varied range of Callaghan's vocals, whilst exploring an array of topics, these songs also show a maturity, a progression, in her voice, her writing, her career. I look forward to seeing in which direction the third EP will take us, this summer.
