If you like your blues full-on with sassy brass arrangements and soulful singing then this is for you.

This is a slick album featuring Billy Price, a veteran of 17 albums, who used to sing with guitarist Roy Buchanan for three years.

There are eight originals and four covers on Dog Eat Dog, including a storming version of Willie Dixon's My Love Will Never Die.

The musicianship throughout is first class but the star of the show is the vocals of Mr Price. He certainly hits the right notes here. The vibe throughout is soulful and smooth. There are no rough edges to be found on any of 12 tracks.

Guitarist Mike Vito guests on All Night Long Cafe. There's some thumping bass to be found on the upbeat Walk Back In and the final song You Gotta Leave. The guitar of producer Kid Anderson is also a feature, incisive and thoughtful.

A well-produced soulful album.
