The New Forest Folk Festival has released the line-up details for this year's event between 5th and 9th July, and it promises to be a cracker! Now in its 6th year, at Plaitford, near Romsey, it features a mix of all-time great acts, regular crowd-pleasers, local talent and rising stars.
Headline acts for the Friday are Jacqui McShee's Pentangle, Richard Digance and Joe Broughton's Conservatoire Folk Ensemble; with Show of Hands, Acoustic Strawbs and Ric Sanders Trio on the Saturday; rounding off with Mad Dog Mcrea on the Sunday.
The fun starts on Wednesday evening with King John's Morris Men and music sessions, and there is a full programme of acts on the Thursday.
There is also a children's area, foodstalls and traders, and an extensive programme of workshops, singarounds, open mics and poets. Other acts include: Bonnie Dobson, Wright Barker Williams Band, Reg Meuross, Gary Fletcher Band, Janet Dowd & Brendan Goff, Ken Nicol, Fleetwood Cave, Kevin Dempsey and Tom Leary, Ninebarrow, Matt Black, Broadside Boys, Hannah Robinson, Barney Newman, The Jigantics, Oxford Fiddle Group, and Southampton Ukulele Jam.
The site, at Powells Farm, is on the family farm of Nick and Keith Curtis. All the Curtis family are involved in the organisation of the festival, helping to ensure that this is truly a FAMILY FESTIVAL.
